Canteen Studios is a Toronto / South Etobicoke rental studio for photo, video, and film production. These two Toronto rental studio / production studios are 7000 sf combined.

The space is located in the west-end film district, with a number of support services being within several minutes away, such as photo, video, film equipment rentals and sales (Arri Rentals, Cinespace / 777 Kipling soundstages, Source Shop, Grande Camera, Affiliated Equipment, William F. White, 2D, OC); prop rentals; physical FX houses suppliers, production resource suppliers, and large soundstages nearby.

Rental periods are from 4 hrs to a full month, with packages and discounts to suit your production.

The studio consists of two fully independent, complete rental studios, each with a private truck dock, a camera-ready hero kitchen or two, two nicely renovated washrooms, gigabit internet, 20A outlets, and multi-zone air conditioning.

The studios are internally connected, so for larger shoots, both can be booked, where the hero kitchen studio has all the resources and people that need to be on set, while the other has everyone else, with plenty of room for craft, multiple meetings, extra props or equipment, etc.

Canteen Studios is known for having three customizable kitchens, each with a unique orientation (center, left corner, right corner) for cabinets, sink, appliances, moveable island, a different style and color of cabinetry. The hero kitchen island has its own propane tank, allowing it to be oriented anywhere, in any position, with the advantage of talent facing camera when working with the stovetop. A fourth kitchen is in-progress in Studio 1, also with a unique look, finish, and appliance types.

Of course, your production doesn’t need a kitchen set to choose Canteen. Canteen is a great general rental space for other types of shoots, events, and projects.

All the cabinets are Ikea, which is also just 3.5 kms away, so production can easily replace components such as cabinet faces. All three ranges are gas, each studio has a range hood, and one oven in each studio is gas, while Studio 1 also has an electric oven.

The two kitchens that are often used for prep and/or craft, have a full selection of appliances, as well as cupboards full of pots, pans, baking supplies, dishes, bowls, glasses, utensils, as well as hundreds of ingredients and products used for food styling so you don’t have to bring or buy everything for your production.

Productions of up to 40 in just Studio 1, with a lot of gear and sets, are well accommodated, including parking for cars, vans, and full-size production trucks.

We are in the process of moving over our substantial rental equipment inventory, including extensive motion and strobe lighting, grip equipment, Canon R5 system, backgrounds, specialty support and background equipment, and more tools. Let us know what you need to rent, and we are happy to supply that from our own stock or order it in from our network of rental houses and suppliers, including high-speed cameras, motion-control systems, etc.
